Good condition WWI Belgian Model 1889 Mauser Rifle that has Fabrique Nationale manufacturer markings on the receiver ring. Rifle was captured by the Germans during WWI and converted from 7.65mm to 8mm caliber. Note the added “notch” in the receiver ring and the Prussian eagle firing proofs on the receiver and bolt handle. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the stock, including receiver, barrel, bolt, floorplate, and buttplate. Note that the barrel, bolt, floorplate, and buttplate were depot renumbered. Metal finish is original blue mostly worn to brown and gray patinas. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Probably light buffed. Right side buttstock has a Belgian roundel cartouche and a German “DEUTSCHES REICHS” eagle cartouche. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A rare German captured Belgian M1889 Mauser Rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
