Good condition original antique Civil War Sharps New Model 1859 Military Rifle in .54 percussion caliber. Mechanically functions fine. The hammer screw head is missing. Metal has nice plum brown patina. 30” barrel has original sights and is designed for a socket bayonet. Bore is good, a little gray, with strong rifling and a little pitting. Forend has been shortened to just the rear band. Underside of forend has a crack and a large chip by the receiver. Wood has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. A classic Sharps rifle that will make a nice addition to a collection.
