Very good condition Japanese Type 30 Arisaka Hook Safety Rifle. This interesting gun was sold to Russia during WWI and has the Tokyo Arsenal marking overstamped on the mum indicating it was sold out of Japanese military service. Receiver side rail has the Tokyo Arsenal marking. This interesting rifle made its way into Finnish stores (Finland was part of the Russian empire until 1918-1919), and was subsequently converted from 6.5 x 50mm to 8mm Mauser caliber. The book “The Early Arisakas” by Banzai states that Finland converted a small, unknown quantity of Type 30 rifles to 8mm Mauser. Barrel shank is marked “S”, possibly for the caliber conversion. Rifle is marked “ZY” on the floorplate and front of the triggerguard and on the underside of the receiver. These markings are of unknown significance, may be Estonian related. Metal finish is nice looking arsenal reblue showing a little normal wear. Bore is very good and bright with strong rifling. Stock has origin al finish and shows some handling marks. Complete with correct original brass-tipped cleaning rod. An interesting and rare Finnish used Type 30 rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
