Good condition antique US Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield Rifle in .45-70 caliber. Lock is marked “U.S. / SPRINGFIELD” with the American eagle. Breech block is marked “MODEL 1873”. Barrel has “VP” and eagle head proof marks. Mechanically functions fine. Metal finish is original blue showing some wear to brown and gray patina. Bore is dark with strong rifling and some pitting. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Left side of wrist has a nice 1882 dated “SWP” inspector cartouche.
