Good condition original antique Civil War USS Model 1861 Springfield Musket. Has been bored out to .64 caliber smoothbore. Lock is marked “E. ROBINSON NEW YORK” with the American eagle and dated 1863. One of 30,000 produced by this contractor. Barrel has VP and eagle head proof marks. Date is illegible. Mechanically functions fine. Metal finish is original “in the white” with some turned gray and brown patina, and some scattered pitting. Rear sight has a slightly poor fit. Smooth bore is dark and pitted. Stock shows some wear and handling marks. Complete with correct original ramrod and an unmarked socket bayonet that fits musket well. Bayonet is in fair condition with a repair to the shank. Blade measures 16 ½” long. A classic Civil War arm that will make a great addition to a collection.
