Good condition original Civil War US Model 1840 NCO sword that is maker marked “EMERSON & SILVER TRENTON N.J.” on the left ricasso. Dated 1863 on the right ricasso with “U.S.” and “D.F.H.” inspector initials. 31 ¾” blade has original bright finish largely turned gray, brown, and plum brown patina. Brass hilt has attractive patina. Right side of knuckle bow is marked “D.F.H.”. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has brass throat and tip. Steel body has brown patina. Brass fittings have attractive patina. Tip has several dents. A classic Civil War NCO sword that will make a great addition to a collection!
