Very good condition antique French Mle 1866 Chassepot bolt action single shot needle-fire rifle that has nice St. Etienne Arsenal and model designation markings on the receiver and dated 1872 on the barrel. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers. The bolt head washer is absent and the firing pin has a broken tip. Metal finish is original “in the white”, largely turned brown and gray patina. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Left side buttstock has a sharp clear matching serial number. Right side buttstock has a sharp clear October 1872 dated roundel cartouche. Complete with a correct type reproduction clearing rod that is unnumbered. A nice looking Chassepot Rifle with matching numbers!
