Very good condition original Argentine Model 1909 Mauser bayonet that is a rare first variation with a lower muzzle ring. Interestingly, bayonet is outside the accepted range of 3000 first model M1909 bayonets produced. Bayonet is complete with matching numbered scabbard and has a full untouched Argentine crest on the right ricasso. Maker marked “WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & CO. SOLINGEN” on the left ricasso. Bayonet has nice bright finish and has been cleaned. Blade has been sharpened. Wood grips have original finish and a good tight fit with some normal handling marks. Lock button functions fine. Matching numbered steel scabbard has nice original blue finish and a few dings. Also complete with correct original green leather frog. Leather is soft and supple with a little normal wear. Stitching is tight. Complete with handle straps. A rare bayonet that will make a fine addition to a collection.
