Very good condition antique German GEW 88 Commission Rifle in 8mm Mauser caliber that was manufactured by Steyr in 1890, as marked on the receiver. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the rear sight and bolt head. Note that the matching numbered firing pin has a broken tip, but is included. Currently installed is a nonmatching numbered, functional firing pin. Rifle is NOT Turk marked or modified and NOT updated to 88/05 configuration. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are original “in the white”. Buttplate has some gray and brown patina and some light pitting. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing some normal wear. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and underside of buttstock have nice Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A nice GEW 88 Commission Rifle in original WWI configuration.
