
Good condition antique German Kar 88 Commission Carbine in 8mm Mauser caliber that was manufactured by C.G. Haenel Suhl in 1891, as marked on the receiver. Carbine is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers. Barrel is a new made reproduction. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Receiver has some vise or wrench marks. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing some normal wear. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has been refinished and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and undersides of wrist and buttstock have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Carbine is unit marked “I.M.V.4.41.” on the barrel band for the Infantry Munitions Column of 5th Army Corps, Company 4, Weapon 41. The front sight protector ears on the nosecap have been removed. Comes with a reproduction leather sling and a reproduction clip. A hard to find Kar 88 Carbine that will make a fine addition to a collection.
