Good condition original antique US Model 1816 musket in .69 caliber that was originally manufactured as a flintlock. Converted to percussion and the Maynard primer tape system prior to the Civil War at Frankford Arsenal using Remington-made locks. Lock has Remington markings with partially legible “185?” date. Mechanically functions fine. Metal finish is original “in the white” largely turned gray and brown patina with some light pitting. Musket was rifled as part of the conversion and fitted long range sights. Bore is gray with good rifling and some pitting. Stock was lightly sanded. There are some chip by the ramrod channel. Stock is marked “2” in a few locations. Complete with correct original ramrod. A scarce musket variation, with only 20,000 produced.
