Very good condition WWI German GEW 98 Mauser Rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that was manufactured by Oberndorf in 1916, as marked on the receiver. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Receiver and buttplate have some light pitting. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing some normal wear. Bore is good, bright with good average rifling and a little pitting. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and undersides of wrist and buttstock have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Underside of buttstock also has a matching serial number. Complete with cleaning rod and detachable sling swivel. A nice WWI German GEW 98 Mauser Rifle with matching numbers.
