Good condition antique US Model 1871 Ward Burton bolt action single shot rifle that has nice markings on the receiver side rail and bolt. Originally made in .50 caliber centerfire, but bore has been reamed out to .52 caliber (about 28 gauge) smoothbore. Mechanically functions fine. Metal finish is original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Bore is bright with a little pitting. Stock ahs original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Left side of stock has two inspector cartouches below the receiver. Complete with cleaning rod. Only 1,011 Model 1871 Ward Burton Rifles were made. A rare gun that will make a fine addition to a collection.
