SCARCE “eagle/HZaJt3” CARTOUCHE- SERVICE IN 2 WARS
Very good condition WWI German Kar 98az Mauser Rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that was manufactured by Erfurt Arsenal in 1916, as marked on the receiver. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers. This interesting rifle shows use up through WWII and has an “eagle/HZaJt3” cartouche on the underside of the buttstock for the depot at Ingolstadt. Metal finish is original blue showing some wear to brown and gray patinas. Bore is very good and bright with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some handling marks. Handguard has a repaired crack. Right side buttstock and undersides of wrist and buttstock have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Underside of buttstock also has a matching serial number. A hard to find WWII depot marked Kar 98az with matching numbers.
