Excellent condition Civil War US Model 1861 Springfield Rifle Musket in .58 caliber. This rifle was assembled using an original lock, otherwise reproduction parts. Lock was manufactured by Sarson & Roberts of New York in 1862 and is marked “U.S. / NEW YORK / 1862” with the American eagle. Sarson & Roberts only produced 5,140 M1861 rifles. Mechanically functions fine and tight. Lock is bright. Remaining metal finish is nice looking plum brown. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has nice even finish. Complete with ramrod. A classic Civil War M1861 Springfield Rifle Musket with an uncommon contract lock.
