Good condition original WWI German Ersatz “crank handle” trench fighting knife that doubles as a bayonet for the GEW 98 Mauser rifle. Bayonet has DEMAG manufacturer markings on the left ricasso and patent markings on the right ricasso. Blade has original bright finish with some graying, and has a dull tip. Still has original leather washer at the base. Steel handle has original paint showing some normal wear. The guard has been cut back on the muzzle side. Lock button functions fine. Fitted in correct original steel sheath that has nice original black paint and no dents. Complete with ersatz cloth belt loop and leather handle straps that are loose and missing the rivet. Snap works fine. A good example of a scarce and desirable WWI German crank handle knife/bayonet.
