Very good condition antique German/Turkish GEW 88/05/35 Commission Rifle in 8mm Mauser caliber. This interesting rifle started life as a German GEW 88 and was later updated to 88/05 configuration to use standard 98 Mauser stripper clips. Rifle was supplied to the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) during WWI and subsequently Turk arsenal reworked, eliminating the barrel jacket and changing the barrel and stock. Rifle has TC Ankara Arsenal markings on the receiver ring and dated 1940. Rifle still qualifies as an antique, no FFL required to purchase. Rifle has no visible import markings, and has all matching Turk applied serial numbers including receiver, bolt, and rear sight. Metal finish is nice Turk arsenal reblue showing very little wear. Bore is very good and bright with strong rifling. Stock has nice Turk arsenal finish and shows some normal handling marks. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. An uncommon and unique rifle that will make a great addition to a collection.
