Very good condition antique German 71/84 Mauser Rifle in 11mm Mauser caliber that has Danzig Arsenal markings on the barrel and dated 1887 on the receiver. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the bolt. Mechanically functions fine including working magazine cutoff. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing some normal wear. Bore is good, a little gray with strong rifling and some pitting. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and underside of buttstock have nice Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Rifle is unit marked “7.R.E.3.178.” on the buttplate tang for issue to the 7th (2nd West Prussian) Grenadiers “King William I”, Ersatz Battalion, Company 3, Weapon 178.
