Very good condition original WWII Japanese army late war officer Shin Gunto sword. 26” blade has nice original bright finish with a few scuffs and a few minor gray spots. Edge has a few dings. Both sides of tang have signed kanji characters. Dated Showa 20 (1945) on the left side. Wooden tsuka has nice white rayskin covering and tight cloth tape wrap that shows a little wear and staining. Held to the tang with two bamboo mekugi. Both sides have a single menuki depicting three cherry blossoms. Tsuba has a single seppa on both sides. Scabbard lock button is present but does not hold securely. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has nice original paint with a little flaking, no dents. A nice late war Japanese officer Shin Gunto.
