Very good condition original WWI Imperial German Bavarian Model 1889 cavalry officer dress sword. 32 ¼” blade has original bright plated finish and nice etched panels. The faded blue in the panels show some loss. Left side has “Zur Erinnerung an Mine Dienstzeit” (In Memory of My Service Time). Unit marked to the 2nd Royal Bavarian Uhlans “King” on the right side. Still has original leather washer at the base. Hilt has original bright finish. Folding guard has the Bavarian lion and works fine. Hard rubber grip has no damage. Has original knot attached that shows some normal wear and staining. Leather is soft and supple. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has original black paint with some flaking and several dents. A hard to find Bavarian M1889 cavalry officer sword that will make a fine addition to a collection.
