Good condition original antique pre Civil War US Model 1836 pistol in .54 caliber that was originally made as a flintlock and later arsenal converted to percussion. Manufactured by R. Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut, in 1844, as marked on the lock. Mechanically functions fine and tight. Metal finish is original bright with some gray and brown patina. Smooth bore is dark and pitted. Stock has original finish and shows some normal wear and handling marks. Left side of stock has a hairline crack by the breech and two inspector cartouches. Right side of stock has a small hairline in front of the lock and another small hairline behind the lock. Complete with original captive ramrod. A nice US Model 1836 pistol for your collection.
