Good condition original pre WWII Japanese army company grade officer Type 19 Kyu Gunto sword that is a combat issue example, NOT a dress sword. 25 ¼” blade has original bright finish with some scattered gray patches. Nice clear hamon. Edge has many nicks and chips. Tang is signed on both sides and has a Chrysantemum marking on the right side. Brass hilt has attractive patina and nice cherry blossom designs. Sharkskin grip has tight wire wrap and no damage. Held to the tang with a single bamboo mekugi. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has original bright plated finish with some scattered flaking, no dents. A hard to find early Type 19 Kyu Gunto with a great signed tang!
