Good condition pre WWI Japanese Type 30 Arisaka Hook Safety Rifle in 6.5 x 50mm caliber that has the Tokyo Arsenal marking on the receiver side rail. Mum was overstamped with the Tokyo Arsenal symbol, indicating the rifle was withdrawn from military stores. This particular gun was sold to Russia during WWI and made its way into Finnish stores. Rifle has a Finn Civil Guard marking in the right side buttstock-“S 85908” for the Pohjois Karjala (North Karelia) District. Rifle is NOT import marked and has matching assembly numbers on the receiver, trigger, both tangs, and front band. Otherwise nonmatching. Rifle has the distinctive floorplate catch guard that was installed by the Finns. Mechanically complete and functions fine. Metal finish is original blue showing some wear. Bore is dark with average rifling. Stock has original finish and shows numerous handling marks. Complete with a replaced Type 38 style cleaning rod. An interesting Finn Civil Guard marked Type 30 rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
