Very good condition WWI British contract Canadian MK IIIB (Model 1910) Ross straight-pull rifle in .303 British caliber. In September 1914, Great Britain contracted for 100,000 MK IIIB Ross rifles, but only 65,590 were produced before the contract was cancelled in February 1917. These rifles were primarily issued to the Royal Navy and had different sights from the Canadian issue version. Rifle has nice manufacturer markings on the receiver and British proof marks on the barrel. Metal finish is nice arsenal reblue. There is a patch of pitting on the buttplate. Bore is dark gray and pitted with average worn rifling. Stock was arsenal refinished and shows some normal handling marks. A hard to find WWI British MK IIIB Ross rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
