Very good condition original antique Boer War ZAR (South African Boer Republic) Model 1895 Mauser Rifle in 7mm Mauser (7 x 57) caliber that has Loewe Berlin manufacturer markings on the receiver side rail along with the “MOD. 1896” designation. Rifle has the “A” serial number prefix and is one of 10,000 rifles delivered in June-September 1896. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the bolt and cleaning rod. Bolt is correct Fraktur letter proof marked. Metal finish is original blue showing some wear. Bore is poor, gray with worn rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some handling marks. Right side buttstock has original Boer name carving-“G.G. BOTHA 1899”. Complete with nonmatching numbered cleaning rod. A nice original Boer War Mauser rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
