Very good condition antique German bolt action sporting rifle that was built using a GEW 88 Commission style action. Mechanically functions fine and features double set triggers. 8mm Mauser caliber. Right side receiver side rail has a repaired crack. Receiver, bolt, and magazine have strong original case colored finish. Remaining metal finish is nice original blue showing a little normal wear. Rifle is fitted with claw mount scope bases on the receiver. 23” octagonal barrel has a notch rear sight and a ramp blade/bead front sight. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some handling marks, gouges, and dings. Right side of forend tip has a chip, and left side of forend tip has a hairline crack. Has sling swivels and a horn buttplate. Underside of forend has an inlay with “EA” monogram that I believe is for Ernest Augustus, Elector of Brunswick-Luneburg. A high quality antique German sporting rifle that will make an excellent addition to a collection.
