Fine condition antique Michigan State Guard Remington Rolling Block Model No. 1 military pattern rifle in .50-70 Government caliber. One of a small, unknown quantity sold to the Michigan State Guard by Schuyler, Hartley, & Graham circa 1879. Either assembled by Remington using leftover and surplus parts, or assembled by Schuyler, Hartley, & Graham using parts provided by Remington. Mechanically functions fine and tight. The Remington markings on the tang are almost completely invisible. Receiver retains strong original case colors. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing some normal wear. 35 ¼” barrel has original sights. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and crisp edges with a few normal handling marks. Comb is stamped “125”. Complete with correct original cleaning rod and an old collection tag. A hard to find Remington Rolling Block variation that will make a fine addition to a collection.
