Good condition original Civil War US Navy Model 1860 Cutlass that is marked “U.S.N.” on the right ricasso and dated 1862 with inspector initials. 26” blade has brown and gray patinas. Brass hilt fittings have attractive patina. Back of guard is stamped “9M/576”. Leather covered grip shows some normal wear and a few tiny chips. Fitted in correct original leather scabbard. Brass throat is present, but the tip has been torn off and is absent. Leather is dry and shows some wear, stitching shows some loss. A classic Civil War US Navy cutlass that will make a nice addition to a collection.
