Very good condition original WWI Imperial German Model 1889 Cavalry dress sword. 32 ¾” blade has original bright plated finish with just a little bit of scattered flaking and was never sharpened. Sharp clear etched panels on both sides with fire blued scenes. Left side has cavalry battle scene. Right side is etched with the name Gefreiter Saal and unit Jager Zu Pferde Regiment No. 2. Hilt has nice original bright finish. Folding guard has Prussian eagle and works fine. Folding reverse guard also works fine. Hard rubber grip has no damage. Complete with original knot that shows some normal wear. Leather strap is pliable and has no damage. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has original black paint with some flaking and a few dents. A nice WWI German cavalry sword with etched blade.
