Very good condition original WWI German 98/05 Mauser butcher bayonet that is maker marked “ALEX COPPEL SOLINGEN” on the left ricasso and dated 1917 on the spine. Bayonet was blued, indicating postwar Weimar reissue. The finish on the blade shows a little wear. The finish on the hilt shows more wear. Wood grips have original finish and a good tight fit with some normal handling marks. Lock button functions fine. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has brown patina and a few small dents. A classic 98/05 Mauser butcher bayonet that will make a great addition to a collection.
