Good condition WWI Imperial German GEW 98 Mauser Rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that was manufactured by Danzig Arsenal in 1916, as marked on the receiver. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the cleaning rod. Firing pin has a broken tip. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing wear to brown and gray patinas. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock shows some handling marks and finish loss and was partially sanded. Right side buttstock and underside of buttstock have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Underside of buttstock also has a matching serial number. The rear sling swivel is a replacement. Complete with original nonmatching numbered cleaning rod. A good example of a classic WWI German GEW 98 Mauser Rifle.
