Good condition original antique US Model 1855 percussion pistol-carbine in .58 percussion caliber. Lock is marked “U.S./SPRINGFIELD” and dated 1855. The primer tape compartment door has American eagle marking. Breech tang is dated 1855. Barrel has “VP” and eagle head proof marks. The hammer is a replacement. Metal finish is original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina and some pitting. Bore is dark gray with good rifling and some pitting. Stock has been sanded and refinished. Grip has a repaired crack. Complete with original captive ramrod. No stock. A good representative example of a hard to find US Model 1855 pistol.
