Very good condition original antique Kentucky style flintlock rifle in .52 caliber that was manufactured by Jacob Snevely and is marked “J. SNEVELY” on the barrel. Snevely produced rifles in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania from 1815-1825, and in Piqua, Ohio, from 1825-1835. Lock is marked “JAS. GOLCHER”. Mechanically functions fine. Nice original brown finish. 39 ¼” octagonal barrel has original sights including a low profile notch rear and a brass blade front. Bore is good, a little dark, with strong rifling and some pitting. Tiger Maple stock has original finish and attractive grain pattern with some normal handling marks. Left side of forend has a tight crack by the ramrod channel, between the front two hoops. Left side of forend has a small plastic filler repair by the nosecap. Brass patch box door has a break at the hinge. A hard to find Jacob Snevely Kentucky style rifle that will make an excellent addition to a collection.
