Very good condition original pre WWI Imperial German KS 98 Mauser sawback bayonet that has Erfurt Arsenal markings on the right ricasso and dated 1906 on the spine. Bayonet has a German colonial unit marking on the left side of the guard-“K.S.2084.” Blade has nice original bright finish and has been sharpened. Saw teeth are sharp and crisp. Hilt has original bright finish with a few gray patches of pitting. Checkered horn grips have a good tight fit, no damage. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has a matching unit marking. Scabbard has original blue finish showing a little normal wear and one dent. Also complete with original brown leather frog. Leather is soft and supple with some normal wear, stitching is tight. A very rare German KS 98 Mauser sawback bayonet with matching colonial markings that will make an impressive addition to a collection!
