Very good condition original WWI Imperial German Mauser Ersatz bayonet. This variation is shown as #69 in Carter’s book and was manufactured using a repurposed, obsolete socket bayonet blade that measures 17 5/16” long. Bayonet has two Fraktur letter proof marks on the blade spine. Blade has original bright finish with some graying. Hilt has mostly gray patina with a little original green paint remaining. Lock button works fine. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that is mixed “in the white” with some gray and brown patina and several small dents. A rare Mauser Ersatz bayonet variation that will make an excellent addition to a collection!
