PRE WWII GERMAN KARAB 98B MAUSER RIFLE

PRE WWII GERMAN KARAB 98B MAUSER RIFLE-AMBERG 1916-NAVY MARKED

Very good condition pre WWII German Karab 98b Mauser rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber. Originally manufactured as a GEW 98 by Amberg Arsenal in 1916, as marked on the receiver. Has the Bavarian “rampant lion” firing proof on the receiver side rail. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the bolt. Bolt is correct type. Metal finish is nice arsenal reblue showing very little wear. Bolt and buttplate are original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Bore is good, bright with strong rifling and some pitting. Stock has been arsenal refinished and shows some normal handling marks. Forend has a repaired duffle cut. Rifle has the distinctive 98k style rear band and sling tab cutout. Right side buttstock is marked “P”. Underside of buttstock has a matching serial number. Rifle is unit marked “N.6.32.” on the left side of the bolt takedown washer, either for an army Signals Unit or a Navy Nordsee property stamp. Complete with cleaning rod. A hard to find Karab 98b Mauser rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
