Good condition French Indochina Mle 1902 M16 Berthier Short Rifle in 8mm Lebel caliber. Manufactured at Chatellerault Arsenal in 1927 using a Tulle receiver and has nice markings on the receiver and barrel. Rifle is Balle N marked on the receiver and barrel and NOT import marked. Rifle has matching serial numbers on the barrel, bolt body, and stock. Bolt head and triggerguard do not match. Metal finish is original blue showing some normal wear. There is some pitting around the stock line. Bore is good with strong rifling and some pitting. Stock has original finish and shows many handling marks and dings. Forend has a few repaired cracks by the rear band. Right side of stock has a repaired chip by the rear of the receiver. Left side buttstock has a matching serial number. A rare Berthier variant that will make a fine addition to a collection.
