Very good condition pre WWII Finnish Civil Guard Model 91/24 Mosin Nagant Rifle in 7.62 x 54r caliber that has the early Civil Guard marking on the barrel and SIG manufacturer markings on the right side of the shank. This is an example from the hard-to-find first SIG contract of 2,500 barrels, which did not have the step of the later contract of 5,000 barrels. Rifle has two cancelled Civil Guard district markings on the barrel shank-“S 50907” and “S 141107”, both for Etela Kymenlaasko. Also has another district marking-“S 53948”, for the same district. Receiver also has a cancelled Civil Guard district marking-“S 53242”, also for the same district. Barrel also has the “KLP” marking, indicating that the barrel was shortened from the rear and rechambered to freshen the throat. Rifle is import marked on the barrel and has matching serial numbers on the barrel and bolt. Floorplate does not match, and buttplate is unnumbered. This is common and correct for Finnish Mosin Nagant Rifles. Metal finish is original blue showing some wear. Bore about good, somewhat dark, with good average rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock has an “AV3” depot cartouche. Complete with correct original cleaning rod and sling swivels, and has an original Finnish wooden tag attached to the front swivel. A rare Finn Civil Guard SIG first contract M91/24 Mosin Nagant Rifle that will make a fine addition to a collection.
