Good condition original Indian Wars-Spanish American War US Model 1872 cavalry sword that is retailer marked “D. ABBATE & F. DECARO NEW YORK” on the left ricasso and “GERMANY” on the right ricasso. 32” blade has original bright finish with some gray and brown patina and some light pitting. Brass hilt has nice looking patina. Back of guard has American eagle motif. Leather covered grip shows some flaking, wire wrap is tight. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has brass fittings. Scabbard has plum brown patina and no dents. A classic American cavalry saber that will make a great addition to a collection.
