Good condition antique German Model 1871 Mauser Rifle in 11mm Mauser caliber that has Amberg Arsenal markings on the barrel and dated 1881 on the receiver. Rifle shows Bavarian use with a “crown L” marking on the barrel, and is unit marked “B.9.R.4.109.” on the buttplate tang for the 9th Royal Bavarian Infantry Regiment “Wrede”, Company 4, Weapon 109. Rifle has all matching serial numbers except the middle band. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Remaining metal is mostly worn to the white, with some scattered traces of original plum finish remaining. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock has original finish and shows some wear and handling marks. Right side buttstock and underside of buttstock have faint Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Complete with correct original cleaning rod. A good example of a Bavarian M71 Mauser Rifle.
