Very good condition original Civil War French Mle 1829 artillery saber that has Chatellerault Arsenal markings on the blade spine and dated May 1840. 32 ½” blade has beautiful original bright finish and was lightly sharpened. Still has original leather washer at the base. Brass guard has attractive patina. Horn grip has a good tight fit and no damage. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that is original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina, no dents. A nice French artillery sword for your collection.
