Very good condition original WWI Imperial German artillery officer dress sword that features an impressive Damascus blade. 31 ¼” blade has nice original finish and beautiful pattern. Has been sharpened. Has some pitting near the tip. Sharp clear etching including “EISENHAUER ECHT-DAMST” on the right side. Still has original leather washer at the base. Brass hilt has nice original gilt finish. Lion head pommel has intact glass eyes. Grip shows some loss of the sharkskin covering, and has tight wire wrap. Also complete with original knot that shows some normal wear. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has original black paint with some scattered flaking and several dents. A rare WWI German artillery dress sword with Damascus blade that will make an impressive addition to a collection.
