Very good condition WWI German GEW 98 Mauser rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that has Spandau Arsenal markings on the receiver ring and dated 1899. Rifle was updated to GEW 98M configuration in the 1930’s, being rebarreled with a tangent rear sight. Barrel is dated “G” for 1935 with Waffenamts. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the handguard and trigger. Metal finish is nice arsenal reblue. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock was arsenal refinished and shows some normal handling marks. Forend has a duffle cut under the rear band. Right side buttstock and undersides of wrist and forend have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Underside of wrist also has a Waffenamt. Complete with cleaning rod. A really nice example of a GEW 98M Mauser rifle.
