4th NAVY SEA BATTALION-MATCHING-SCARCE-NICE
Very good condition antique Prussian F.G. Mod. 60 Dreyse “Needle Gun” Rifle in 15.4mm caliber that has Dreyse Arsenal markings on the receiver along with the model designation and dated 1861 and 1862. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers. Mechanically functions fine and the needle appears to have a shortened tip. Receiver and bolt are original “in the white”. Barrel has original plum brown finish showing some wear. Bore is very good and bright with strong rifling. Stock was lightly refinished and shows some normal handling marks. Right side of forend has a few chips and a hairline crack. Right side buttstock and underside of forend have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Rifle is unit marked “S.B.4.25.” on the buttplate tang for the 4th Navy Sea Battalion, Weapon 25. Front sling swivel is absent. Complete with correct original clearing rod. A nice example of a hard to find Dreyse needle gun.
