Good condition WWII German 98k Mauser rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that is marked “S/42” on the receiver for manufacture by Oberndorf and dated 1936. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the bolt, rear sight, triggerguard, and ejector box. Buttplate, handguard, and front band are unnumbered. Metal finish is original blue showing some wear. Bore is poor, gray and pitted with worn rifling. Stock has been refinished and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and undersides of wrist and buttstock have Waffenamts. Underside of buttstock also has a matching serial number. Complete with cleaning rod. A decent example of a pre-war 98k Mauser rifle.
