Very good condition original WWII Japanese army officer Shin Gunto sword. Blade measures 26 ¼” from the habaki notch to the tip and has original bright finish with a little staining. Edge has a few dings. Tang. Wooden tsuka has nice white rayskin covering and tight cloth tape wrap with some normal wear. Both sides have nice original menuki depicting three cherry blossoms. Handle is held to the tang with a single bamboo mekugi. Brass fittings have attractive patina. Tsuba has have seppa on both sides. Scabbard latch button is present but does not work securely. Both sides of tang has many signed kanji characters. Complete with original leather cover that is supple with some normal wear. Fitted in correct original scabbard that has nice original leather covering with tight stitching. A nice WWII Japanese army officer Shin Gunto.
