Very good condition WWI German Kar 98az Mauser rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that was manufactured by Erfurt Arsenal in 1918, as marked on the receiver. Rifle was reissued by the Weimar Republic after the war and has the “1920” marking on the receiver ring. Rifle is NOT import marked and has matching serial numbers on the receiver, barrel, front and rear sights, floorplate, bolt, and ejector box. Otherwise nonmatching. Metal finish is arsenal reblue showing some wear. Bore is bright and excellent with strong rifling. Stock was arsenal refinished and shows some wear and handling marks. Left side of forend has a repaired crack behind the stacking rod. Handguard has two small cracks in front of the rear sight. Underside of buttstock has a WWII German eagle cartouche. Right side buttstock has faint Imperial German proof mark cartouches. A good example for your collection.
