Very good condition WWI German GEW 98 Mauser rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber that has Spandau Arsenal markings on the receiver ring and dated “1915”. Receiver also has the “1920” marking indicating postwar Weimar Republic use. Rifle was updated to GEW 98M configuration in the 1930’s with a tangent rear sight installed. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the handguard. Metal finish is arsenal reblue showing some normal wear. Bore is good with strong rifling and a little dark. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and undersides of wrist and forend have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Underside of wrist also has a WWII German depot eagle Waffenamt cartouche. Complete with cleaning rod. A really nice example of a GEW 98M Mauser rifle.
