SEVERAL BAVARIAN CAVALRY UNIT MARKINGS-NICE
Good condition antique Imperial German Kar 88 Commission Carbine in 8mm Mauser caliber that was manufactured by V.C. Schilling Suhl, as marked on the receiver. Carbine is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers. Carbine is unit marked “B.2.Ch.2.82.” on the left side of the nosecap for the 2nd Royal Bavarian Chevauleger Regiment “Taxis”, Eskadron 2, Weapon 82. Also has a lined-out unit marking on the rear band-“B.5.Ch.R.3.81.” for the 5th Royal Bavarian Chevauleger Regiment “Archduke Albrecht of Austria”, Eskadron 3, Weapon 81. Receiver, bolt, and buttplate are original “in the white” with some gray and brown patina. Remaining metal finish is original blue showing some wear. Bore is good, bright with strong rifling and some light pitting. Stock has original finish and shows some normal handling marks. Right side buttstock and underside of buttstock have Imperial German proof mark cartouches. Right sides of buttstock and forend are marked “F” in three places. The nosecap ears have been ground down. Complete with original magazine dustcover and a reproduction leather sling. A good example of a Kar 88 Commission Carbine with matching numbers.
