Good condition WWII German 98k Mauser rifle in 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57) caliber. This interesting gun was originally made as a GEW 98 rifle and later arsenal converted to 98k configuration. Receiver has Spandau Arsenal 1917 markings along with the “star” indicating it was built using subcontracted parts. Also has the Weimar “1920” property marking. Barrel has Third Reich eagle markings. Rifle is NOT import marked and has all matching serial numbers except the firing pin, which is “78” instead of the correct “87”. Metal finish is arsenal reblue showing some normal wear. Bore is good with a little pitting and has good rifling that shows some normal wear. Stock has been sanded and refinished. Complete with correct original cleaning rod, front sight hood, and leather sling. A hard to find 98k Mauser variant with nearly all matching numbers that will make a fine addition to a collection.
